A Kano High Court, presided over by Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji, yesterday restrained the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun and the Police from arresting the Kano State Chairman of the Public Complaints and Anti Corruption Commission (PCACC), Muhyi Magaji Rimingado.

The Court granted an interim order restraining the Police from inviting, arresting or harassing Magaji pending the hearing of the substantive suit against his arrest last week.
Recall that Magaji was whisked away by Police officers last week following his alleged confiscation of property allegedly linked to APC National Chairman, Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The properties which were confiscated through Bala Inuwa Muhammad suspected to be a proxy to Ganduje were said to have not gone down well with the APC Chairman, who was alleged to have initiated the arrest of Rimingado.
The plaintiffs in the suit are the Kano State Attorney-General, Kano State PCACC boss Rimingado. Also, the defendants are the Nigerian Police Force, Inspector-General of Police, AIG Zone-1, Kano Commissioner of Police, ASP Ahmed Bello and Bala Muhammad Inuwa.
However, the presiding judge adjourned to February 10th, 2025 for a hearing of the Motion on notice.
The State Government is prosecuting Ganduje on eight-count charge. These include bribery, misappropriation, and diversion of public funds amounting to billions of Naira. Aside the former governor, the defendants include his wife, Hafsat Umar, and others.
